The recent Russian missile strike on Odessa port in Ukraine just after an agreement was struck by the Russian Government with their counterparts in the Ukraine, was condemned globally. The attack now delays further 20 million tons of Ukrainian grain, which will continue to affect many vulnerable nations and could lead to a major global food shortage. Read more (here)

This attack has done nothing to help the many brave Odessans who choose to remain in their country, despite a very difficult economy and potential for a more concerted Russian attack. Sadly due to a paucity of donations we have not been able to support the church in Ukraine that we have been supporting since the outbreak of the war. We remind you of the exemplary work of Pastor Vasilev. Read more and watch video (here).

Pastor Vasilev is holding church services three times a week to ensure that internally displaced people and permanent Odessans have access to the Gospel, fellowship and prayer when they need it, during very troubling times. He has been using money that we are sending to provide food and Bibles to desperate families. We would like to resume this work as soon as possible but need to raise £500 a month for this work. UK:

In 2016 after being advised by Bradford Police that it was too dangerous for Nissar Hussain to remain in his Bradford Home, we helped the UK's most famous apostate escape to a place of safety. Since that relocation we have watched as the Hussain family have grown in strength and stature and even helped them with the purchase of a new home. Now Mr Hussain has become an advocate for persecuted people who quit Islam and recently he spoke at a conference at the Emmanuel Centre on apostasy hatred in the UK and Europe. Read more (here).

Mr Hussain who often volunteers for BACA and donates to us, is not the first nor the last Ex-Muslim we have helped but it has been a real pleasure to see his growth and his family's persistence to see change in the way that UK authorities react to similar cases. Please pray for his family as they continue God's work for oppressed Ex-Muslims.

Pakistan:

In Pakistan, we are still £2000 short of the funds we need to raise for a deposit for Saif Ul Malook Pakistan's most preeminent blasphemy lawyer to take over the legal case for Zafar Bhatti, Pakistan's longest serving blasphemy law convict. Read more (here).

Saif Ul Malook is the same lawyer that helped us free Asia Bibi from a similar blasphemy conviction (click here) and who also helped free Shagufta Kauser and Shafquat Emmanuel (click here). We do have some good news to share that we missed in our last newsletter. Stephen Masih whose family we supported financially for many years after he was accused of blasphemy has now been given bail. Read more (here).

He is not exonerated yet and like Nabeel Masih (click here) may spend many more years fighting for his acquittal, but he has more freedoms now and has the closeness of a loving family around him. Please pray for a swift conclusion to the ongoing fallacious legal actions against both these men.

A Christian woman suffered a torturous rape at gunpoint. When her family did not return to work because of the attack, 4 armed gunmen visited their home led by the employer who threatened with death if they failed to return and bring the young woman to him the next day. With your help we have been able to repaint the entire home of Pakistan's most famous orphans the children of Shama and Shahzad. Shama and Shahzad were brutally burned alive in a brick kiln in 2014 after a false allegation of blasphemy. Our recent project also included the installation of two ceiling fans and we were able to replace stolen kitchen utensils and equipment after their home was broken into while visiting relatives. We have fresh new images of the family in the newly painted home and videos of thanks that they wanted to send to our donors. Please read more and watch videos (here). Many of you will be aware of the young life that your donations rescued when a 1.5 year old Aleeza was hit by shrapnel during the Quetta Church Bomb Attack. Aleeza lost her left leg and bowels and was almost killed by a gangrene infection too post-initial-operation. But God had a purpose for her life and she is still with us today and is a fervent spiritual believer who has not let her disability hold her back. As a charity we made a commitment to the family assuring them that we would sponsor the ongoing cost for replacement limbs for a quickly growing Aleeza for as long as we survived as an entity. India:

A pastor who was attacked and threatened at his church with other members of his congregation has had to stop his church and move house to flee from further attacks. He and five other church members are also now facing anti-conversion charges and the family and church members have asked for more support from us with their legal fees. Read more (here). We have noticed a reduction in our donations over the last few months since worlds economy has taken a turn for the worse. It has limited progress but we have been able to fulfil most of our regular work. We continue to strive to help every Christian that comes to us with a need and have placed some important work on hold. We would like to prioritize the new solicitor for Zafar Bhatti this month and our help for Ukraine as the Pastor Vasilev's church continue to be a beacon of hope for many brave people. UK Government conference on religious freedom triggers concern about apostasy hatred in UK

The UK government hosted a human rights conference to urge increased global action on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) for all on 5th July. Read More (here).

The conference brought together governments, parliamentarians, faith and belief representatives, and civil society.

National governments represented at the conference were invited to co-sign 1 or more of a set of written statements. The set includes an overarching statement on the conference itself and thematic statements covering freedom of religion or belief issues.

Indian Pastor evicted from home and forced to stop church under weight of Hindu threats

After a Christian House Church was heckled and then attacked by members of a Hindu Nationalist Youth Movement on 3rd March 2022, BACA stepped in to help.

Though the attack was instigated by the Hindu Youth, police arrested 4 men and 2 women from the church only. They charged them with running a lottery, forced conversions and causing religious hurt. This is despite a paucity of evidence.

Aleeza Masih (5 yrs) was only 1.5 years old when she survived the brutal terrorist attack on Quetta Church on 17th December 2017, (click here).

The attack on Bethel Memorial Methodist Church during a Nativity service, killed 9 people and would have been worse had it not been for the bravery of volunteer Christian security officers (click here).

Aleeza Masih lost her right leg and bowels after a large piece of shrapnel embedded itself in her limb. An initial operation left her in a critical state after hospital workers failed to clean her wound properly and gangrene set in.

A mentally retarded Pak-Christian man, from Sialkot who was unjustly accused of blasphemy has been released after 3 years in prison.

He and his family have now been put under the protection of the Government of Pakistan and they will soon be flown to a country in the west for safety.

Stephen Masih (44 yrs), who has been diagnosed as bi-polar, was involved in in an argument with his mother , sister, brother-in-law, and a few neighbors regarding a pigeon on his roof on 10th March 2019.

During the dispute, Stephen became very agitated and engaged in some abusive language towards a Muslim neighbor who was the wife of an Imam (Islamic religious cleric).
