British Asian Christian Association is embarking on a new poverty reduction programme in Pakistan to assist Pakistani Christians in rural communities. 

Our solar panel distribution will bring light and power to families struggling with rising energy costs and the debilitating daily power cuts under the nations load-shedding programme.

Families will see a reduction in energy costs and have a power source to run fans, small equipment and maintain lighting during regular power cuts.

On 27th and 28th May 2023, the former Big Church Day Out event held it’s first event under the new branding of Big Church Festival.

The event is reaching epic proportions with numbers exceeding 35,000 people, and it’s still growing.

This year there was a marked increase in the ethnic diversity of Christians attending and although there is still a very obvious predominance of White Christians, the efforts of the organisers are beginning to pay dividends.

A gang of Muslim sexual predators in Mandiyala Wariach, Gujranwala forcefully entered a Christian marriage reception.

Whilst in the Church courtyard the men harassed young boys and girls who were attending the reception, which eventually provoked a scuffle when Christians forcibly removed them.

Later in the evening the paedophile-gang returned with a larger cohort of friends and attacked the church building with guns and rocks.

The gang shot a cross on the main gate and destroyed security cameras, then they ran away abusing the Christian community, while shouting threats to anyone ‘who dared call the police’.

The frightened Christian community fear an even bigger attack while also being worried about the safety of the children. 

Bungling local police have launched unsuccessful raids – Christians fear police are protecting  influential culprits even though they are known sexual predators.

Two Christian boys, one of them a minor, have been arrested and charged with blasphemy after a police officer alleged they  had named a puppy Muhammed Ali and were laughing about it.

“The boys were booked under Section 295-C of the blasphemy law a statute which prohibits disrespect of the prophet Muhammed and is punishable by death.

On Friday 20th May a Judge sent the two boys to prison on judicial remand and now they face a potentially long prison sentence while they try to attain acquittal or bail.

Hannah Chowdhry a volunteer with British Asian Christian Association, received a Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, Gold Award last year.

On 15th May she was invited to a party on the grounds of Buckingham Palace to celebrate with thousands of other award recipients, in the first ceremony held by Prince Edward the new Duke of Edinburgh.

The event was a real treat for visitors many of whom had met a Royal for the first time.  The Party included music from a brass band and classical orchestra and a free tea and water were served with a cupcake.

A Catholic mission school in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was targeted in a terror attack on Tuesday 16th May.  

A police constable who was protecting a school bus with primary aged girls, began firing shots at the students.

During the attack one girl was killed and six others were injured.

Injured students were taken away from danger and transported and treated at a nearby medical facility.

Christian schools and girls schools in Pakistan are fearful that this attack is a precursor for further attacks.

On Thursday 4th May, British Asian Christian Association, welcomed several volunteers from Eden Church in Ilford, who had a visiting team from Belgium.

A team of three international volunteers who are at a Bible College in Belgium but hail from other countries including the USA and Canada, joined us at Clementswood Community Centre, and helped set-up and serve over 45 local homeless people.

Their input helped us greatly and it was a pleasure to be able to provide them with an opportunity for their mission work.
