Liberated: Two Former Slave Families Seek Justice for Rape Survivors
Dear all,
In our latest newsletter, we are elated to announce the liberation of two families enslaved in brick kilns. This miraculous turn of
events was made possible through a generous donation from a compassionate supporter who was deeply moved by the plight of two young women. These women had endured the horrors of rape, with their families facing threats of further violence if they pursued justice. You can find more information about the newfound freedom of the families of Nagina here and Sunaiha here.
Furthermore, the update provides insights into their ongoing legal battles against the perpetrators who
assaulted them.
Both women have shared with us that amidst their trials, they found solace in their faith, feeling the presence of God during their
darkest moments. Their resilience and bravery throughout this ordeal have been truly remarkable. We are committed to ensuring they continue to receive the support they require.
As Psalm 82:3-4 reminds us, "Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people."
However, amidst this glimmer of hope, we are saddened to report another harrowing incident involving the assault of Christian women in Pakistan. Two women narrowly escaped rape and death when an assailant wielding an axe was prevented from carrying out his heinous intentions. BACA is providing assistance with medical expenses and aims to offer advocacy to pursue
justice and safeguard other women. More details can be found here.
Additionally, we must share the devastating news of a teenager falling victim to the same paedophile gang previously reported to authorities. Tragically, this incident occurred after the gang's violent attack on a church and the molestation of young boys and girls during a wedding last year 9 (click here). The murder ensued following the thwarting of a sexual assault on another teenager. Further details can be found here.
In another distressing incident, a Pastor was abducted and coerced into confessing to an alleged affair by a gang of robbers. Subsequently, the falsity of the accusation has been exposed. More information can be found here.
We also provide an update on Shabir Masih, a longstanding beneficiary of the British Asian Christian Association. He tragically lost his wife and son after
a Muslim family fatally shot them over a dispute regarding water from their property allegedly passing by a Muslim shrine, deeming them ritually impure. More details can be found here.
Lastly, we are proud to share an update on our initiative to provide meals for over 50 homeless and needy individuals three times a week in the London Borough of Redbridge. As we
approach the project's fifth anniversary later this year, the overwhelming vote of confidence from our beneficiaries has been immensely gratifying. Further details can be found here.
At this point I have to emphasize a concern for our organisation that donations towards our support of asylum seekers in Thailand has reduced. This work is crucial and provides much needed support to regular supported families
and assists those with court fines and bail fines that enable them to overcome difficult circumstances after an arrest for illegal status, despite UNHCR accreditation. You can still donate to our previous appeal here.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our cause.
Reviewing all the projects mentioned above, it's evident that fulfilling these appeals requires a substantial amount of funding. We are hopeful that many of you will join us in reaching these goals and that you'll share details of the appeals that resonate with you with others. Together, we can initiate a program of tangible change in 2024. Your
support and collaboration can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. Blessings to you all. Hannah Chowdhry If you are a regular reader and want to support our work, you can find a range of options for giving donations (here). If you are
