BACA Newsletter – August 2025
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18 Dear Friends and Supporters, This month, we share stories of faith under trial, heartbreaking loss, and hope restored through compassion. Your prayers and generosity remain a lifeline for the people we
serve. Bibles for Brick Kiln Believers – In Kasur, elderly brick kiln workers long to read or hear God’s Word, but poor eyesight and illiteracy keep it out of reach. Large-print and audio Bibles could transform their spiritual lives, yet remain unaffordable. Help put God’s Word into their hands. Read more ➡️ Nabeel Masih’s Final Interview – In January, just months before his passing, Nabeel shared what would become his last recorded words—speaking about his
wrongful imprisonment under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws and his steadfast faith. Ensure his story is never forgotten. Read more ➡️ Rebuilding After Raiwind Tragedy – In July, monsoon rains collapsed a home, killing three generations of a Christian family. We are helping the survivors rebuild. Your gift can give them back safety and dignity. Read more ➡️ Shelter for Shabir – A widower who lost his wife and son to violence has now lost his home to flooding. With the school where he shelters due to reopen, he faces homelessness. You can give him a safe place to live. Read more ➡️ Fighting Malaria in Sindh – In a remote village, 40 Christian and Hindu families are battling malaria and dengue. Mosquito nets costing just
£10 could protect an entire household. One small gift could save a life. Read more ➡️ Your support brings
light into dark places, heals the wounded, and shares the Gospel with those who need it most. Thank you for standing with us. Some urgent appeals from last month remain unfulfilled due to a shortage of donations, which may be linked to recent email delays and an increase in requests. We are sharing the appeals from our last newsletter again, below the two new stories and the previous newsletter (here) to invite you to review and consider supporting these outstanding needs. Your ongoing kindness and support are deeply appreciated as we strive to meet the
needs of those we serve. Scripture for the Struggling: Bibles for Brick Kiln Believers
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” – Matthew 5:5 On 10th August, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) visited Grace Church, Raja Jung Kasur, following a heartfelt request from Pastor Rizwan Saqib.
Many members of his congregation are elderly brick kiln workers who love the Lord
deeply, but struggle to read their Urdu Bibles because of weakened eyesight. Others cannot read at all, yet long to hear the Gospel. Large-print Bibles are more expensive than standard editions, making them unaffordable for these families who already live under financial strain. Audio Bibles would open the Word of God to those unable to read—yet they, too, were out of reach.
Blasphemy Convict Nabeel Masih’s Final Recorded Words – An Interview Before His Untimely Death
On 29th January 2025, Nabeel Masih gave what would unknowingly become his final recorded interview. The conversation was conducted by US-based blogger Daniel Richardson for Lament of Hope, and it captured a rare
moment when Nabeel was still in good health. Nabeel’s story is one of extraordinary injustice. In 2016, at just 15 years old—though some early reports mistakenly recorded him as 16—he became the youngest person ever convicted under Pakistan’s notorious blasphemy laws. His “crime” was not something he created or even understood. As an illiterate teenager, Nabeel was tagged in a Facebook post
that contained an image considered disrespectful to the Kaaba, the sacred building in Mecca which Muslims believe marks the place where Ishmael was to be sacrificed by Abraham. Nabeel foolishly allowed the tagged image to remain visible on his Facebook page, but he did not create or share it himself. He later confessed to allowing it to be visible, but vehemently denied creating the post or even knowing what the image depicted at the
time.
Rebuilding Hope After Tragedy in Raiwind – Help a Bereaved Family Return Home
In July 2025, heavy monsoon rains caused a home in Christian Colony Raiwind to collapse, killing three members of the same family. BACA supported the grieving relatives with funeral costs and began rebuilding the destroyed home. Construction is now underway, offering hope to Aslam Masih, his wife, children, and
siblings. Donor support is crucial to finish the home and restore safety and dignity to the family.
Monsoon Rains Destroy Elderly Man’s Home – Help Rebuild Shabir’s Shelter
In July 2025, heavy monsoon rains caused the collapse of 65-year-old Shabir Masih’s mud home in Punjab, leaving him homeless and sheltering in a nearby school. Shabir, already grieving the 2021 murder of his wife and only son, now faces the threat of having nowhere to live once the school reopens. We previously shared
his story in an appeal, but as we have not yet raised the £3000 needed to rebuild his home, we are sharing it again in the hope of reaching more hearts. BACA has long supported his medical and daily needs, and with your help, we can provide him with a safe, weatherproof shelter and restore security to his remaining years.
Urgent Appeal: Protect Vulnerable Sindh Families from Deadly Mosquito-Borne Diseases
In the Sindh village of Ali Ahmad Khan Marri, over 40 Christian and Hindu families are battling a severe outbreak of malaria and dengue. Children are among the worst affected, with several already receiving treatment for the mosquito-borne diseases. With the nearest hospital 10 km away and most families living on less
than £1.10 a day, they cannot afford mosquito nets or proper care. BACA is urgently raising £400 to provide 40 life-saving nets and protect every household from further illness.
Supporting Vulnerable Children in Peru — A Personal MissionAlongside my work with BACA, I will soon be joining my university’s Challenges Abroad team to help deprived children in Peru. This opportunity follows the life-changing experience I had in Thailand last year, where I saw first-hand how charities can transform the lives of vulnerable children. I hope to use the skills and
understanding I gained to strengthen BACA’s mission of supporting disadvantaged communities around the world. To help fund this program, our Challenges Abroad team has launched a Chuffed Campaign, and any donation would mean the world to me. So far, I have raised £460 towards the £2,000 needed for this
volunteer experience, and I’m praying that more supporters will join me in making this journey possible. Your generosity will not only enable me to participate in this important work, but will also equip me to bring back fresh ideas, strategies, and inspiration to help BACA continue its fight for justice, safety, and freedom for those who need it most. “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” — Psalm
