Dear Friends,
"I will say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" – Psalm 91:2 (ESV)
We share this verse as we bring heartbreaking news of a tragic roof collapse during the recent monsoon rains, which claimed the lives of members from three generations of the
same family. The incident was so sudden and severe that it has caused an outpouring of grief throughout the local community, with hundreds gathering to mourn.
The devastated family affected by this tragedy has reached out to us for support. They are currently living in a dangerously unstable building that could collapse at any moment. They have asked for help both to reinforce their home and to secure temporary accommodation
while they begin to come to terms with their profound loss. We seek to surround them with the love of God during this incredibly difficult time and remind them that He is their strength and refuge. Read more (here)
We ask you to hold both Nabeel Masih and Zafar Bhatti in your thoughts and prayers as they face illness while fighting false blasphemy charges. Please take time to read their stories and urge your local politicians to advocate for their acquittal and for them to be granted asylum in Britain, where they
can find safety and protection.
Some urgent appeals from last month remain unfulfilled due to a frustrating shortage of donations last month despite two newsletters, which may be linked to recent email delays and an increase in incidents. We are sharing our last newsletter again (here) to invite you to review and consider supporting these outstanding needs. We currently need to raise approximately £10,000 to ensure every beneficiary receives the critical help
they require. Your ongoing kindness and support are deeply appreciated as we strive to meet the needs of those we serve.
While the kind of building collapse in Raiwind may seem distant, a similar danger is emerging here in the UK due to the RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) crisis. Many families—especially in ex-social housing—are already displaced due to the risk of collapsing roofs. Without urgent intervention, it is not
unthinkable that we could see similar tragedies occur in our own country.
Though we are not currently raising funds for this issue, we ask you to support their advocacy by signing two vital petitions:
A UK RAAC Campaign Group Welsh Government
petition needs just five more UK-based signatures to qualify for formal review by their Petitions Committee.
Their new UK Government petition requires 10,000 signatures within six months to trigger a government
response.
Please lend your voice by signing and sharing these petitions. Together, we can urge the UK, Scottish and Welsh government to act before lives are lost.
You can learn more about the situation on this Sky News report [Here] and this RAAC blog [Here].
Together, let’s continue to speak up, lift up, and show up—just as Scripture calls us to
do.
