BACA Emergency Newsletter – A Call to Prayer, Action, and Compassion 30th July 2025
Urgent Update: Nabeel Masih’s Condition Critical — Only a Miracle Can Save Him Dear Friends and Supporters, We bring you a heartbreaking update on Nabeel Masih, who after years of wrongful imprisonment on false blasphemy charges, is now fighting for his
life. On 30th July, Nabeel was placed on a ventilator in the ICU due to severe complications from liver failure, including Ascites. He remains unconscious and heavily reliant on life support. Doctors have made it clear: a liver transplant is Nabeel’s only chance for survival. The estimated cost is £5,000–£6,000 — far beyond what his family can afford. His father, Amanat Masih, urgently asks for your
prayers: “Please pray for my son’s recovery as you did before. All I want is his health restored.”
How you can help: 🙏 Pray fervently for Nabeel’s healing and strength. 💗 Donate to support his urgent medical care and transplant: www.britishasianchristians.org/donate 📣 Share Nabeel’s story to raise awareness and support.

However, Shabir is the second Pakistani Christian to lose his home in the recent devastating monsoon rains. He is currently living in a dangerous situation and urgently needs repairs to make his home safe. Read more

we are a lifeline for the persecuted. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to be a voice for the voiceless. Some urgent appeals from last month remain unfulfilled due to a shortage of donations, which may be linked to recent email delays and an increase in requests. We are sharing the appeals from our last newsletter again, below the two new stories and the previous newsletter (here) to invite you to review and consider supporting these outstanding needs. Your ongoing kindness and support are deeply appreciated as we strive to meet the needs of those we
serve. Blasphemy Victim Nabeel Masih in ICU on Ventilator — Only a Miracle Can Save Him
A Life Hanging by a Thread: Nabeel’s Condition Reaches Final StageNabeel Masih, just 22 years old, is fighting for his life after being admitted to the ICU for a second time. His already fragile health, deteriorated by years of wrongful imprisonment for alleged blasphemy, has now reached its most critical stage. Despite earlier signs of recovery, he has taken
a turn for the worse — and is now unconscious and on a ventilator. On 19th July, Nabeel was rushed to hospital after his father, Amanat Masih, alerted the BACA team to his declining condition. He was admitted and monitored, but his health collapsed again on 20th July, prompting an emergency shift to the ICU. He remained there for six days, and then appeared to recover enough to be transferred to the general
ward. Sadly, on 27th July, doctors diagnosed him with Ascites, a severe complication of liver failure that leads to fluid build-up in the abdominal cavity. Treatment options were limited and risky. Draining the fluid manually was considered dangerous, so the medical team prescribed three doses of Albumin 20, necessary to stabilise his blood pressure and reduce the risk of internal bleeding. On 29th
July, Nabeel lost consciousness once more, and was transferred back to the ICU. Then, the most devastating update came.
Massive Monsoon Rains Destroy Home of Shabir Masih — He Urgently Needs Your Help to Rebuild
The recent monsoon rains in Punjab have brought devastating destruction to thousands of families. Floodwaters submerged entire villages and towns, causing severe damage to homes — many of which were already vulnerable. Among the affected is 65-year-old Shabir Masih, whose humble mud house collapsed under the relentless downpour between July 20th and July 25th, 2025. Shabir Masih’s
home has lost its roof and weakened walls, leaving him without shelter and at risk of total collapse. Shabir’s house, constructed years ago with reed and wood roofing, held a lifetime of cherished memories, including those shared with his late wife, Yasmeen Bibi. On the night of July 24th, as the rain poured heavily and winds howled, the roof began leaking. Fearing for his safety, Shabir took refuge in a classroom of the nearby school — a move that ultimately
saved his life when the roof gave way.
Nabeel Masih’s Hepatitis E Recovery Stalled by Dangerous Ascites
Recently, Nabeel was diagnosed with Hepatitis E, a dangerous virus that severely compromised his liver. After weeks of medication and signs of slight improvement, we were hopeful. However, on 19th July, Nabeel’s condition took a devastating turn for the worse. His father, Amanat Masih, made an urgent call to our BACA team: “Nabeel needs
immediate medical help. We are poor and cannot afford his medical treatment. Please save Nabeel. He is leaving us.”
Our team acted quickly, transporting Nabeel to Indus Hospital for emergency treatment. From there, doctors referred him to a trusted private medical facility, where he was admitted in a semi-conscious, critical state. Tests revealed that Hepatitis E had caused near-total liver failure, placing Nabeel’s life in grave
danger.
Faith Under Siege: Christian Boy Forced to Convert After Alleged Rape by Muslim Employer
On 21st July 2025, a Christian family in Sultan Town, Sargodha was plunged into a nightmare when 14-year-old Shamraiz Masih was kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam. The boy is now being held at a Madrasa, where his family is denied all contact with him. The tragic case highlights ongoing religious persecution and the
vulnerability of Christian minors in Pakistan.
Shamraiz Masih For the past three years, Shamraiz had been learning motorbike repair under the supervision of Muhammad Rana Munir. However, disturbing revelations came to light
when Shamraiz disclosed to his family that he had been raped by Rana Munir. Upon hearing this, his family immediately stopped sending him to the workshop.
Deprived Children in Peru (sorry I added the Challenges Abroad main donation link last time)In addition to my work with BACA, I am traveling abroad with my university’s Challenges Abroad team to support deprived children in Peru. This follows the impactful experience in Thailand I had last year, where I gained valuable insights into how charities uplift vulnerable children. I hope to build on
that knowledge to enhance BACA’s work in supporting disadvantaged communities. To help cover the costs of this program, the Challenges Abroad team has launched a Chuffed Campaign (click here), and any donations would be deeply appreciated. Your support will allow me
to participate in this important initiative while continuing my mission to bring hope to those in need. So far, I have raised £40 towards the £2,000 needed for the volunteer experience, and I hope more of you will join me in supporting this cause. Your generosity enables us to fight for justice, safety, and freedom for those who need it most. Please consider making a donation—every contribution helps us continue this vital work. “Defend the weak and
the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” — Psalm 82:3 With gratitude and blessings, Hannah Chowdhry British Asian Christian Association
