BACA Newsletter – Late August 2025
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 Dear
Friends and Supporters, This month we begin with an important step forward in our mission to protect the most vulnerable: thanks to your generosity, we are preparing to secure our very first permanent safe house in Pakistan. These safe houses are a lifeline for Christian families fleeing blasphemy accusations and violent attacks. Trustee Juliet Chowdhry will soon be travelling to Pakistan to finalise the purchase, and with just £3,500 still needed, we are closer than ever to
establishing this refuge of safety and hope. Read more (here) and donate (here). At the same time, heavy monsoon rains have brought devastation to already fragile Christian communities. In Narowal, a collapsed home claimed the life of little two-year-old Anaya Qaisar and left her cousins Shanaya (13) and Abeel (3) seriously injured (click here). Another widow, Raj Bibi, saw her home in Kasur destroyed and now shelters her family in unsafe conditions (click here). Entire villages such as Ali Ahmad Khan Mari in Sindh have been swept into despair as homes and livelihoods have been lost, with families surviving in makeshift tents and hunger stalking daily life (click here). Our own major rebuild in Kishar, where three generations of a Christian family perished earlier this year, has been delayed by fresh rainfall, but we are on course to complete the new home next week (click here). Though fewer Christian families than in past years have been affected, the number of deaths has weighed heavily on us all. Still, with fewer overall incidents, we are determined to carry out more lasting work—rebuilding homes in brick so that families
are not left at risk again, and can look forward to a stronger, safer future. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house,
but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. Matthew 7:25 Amid these disasters, persecution continues to scar lives. In May, 19-year-old Gulfam Masih was brutally murdered in Faisalabad after a minor road accident, leaving his widowed mother, Kishwar Bibi, struggling to survive on her meagre wages. We have stepped in to help with groceries and legal support, but she now needs ongoing help both to live and to seek justice for her
son. Read more (here). Your support enables us to meet tragedy with compassion, rebuild lives with dignity, and shine
the light of Christ in places of pain. Thank you for standing faithfully with us. Some urgent appeals from last month remain unmet, and we invite you to revisit them in our last newsletter (here). Two-Year-Old Christian Girl Killed as Family Home Collapses in Narowal Rains
On 27th August, torrential rains caused the collapse of a Christian family’s home in Narowal, killing two-year-old Anaya Qaisar and leaving her cousins Shanaya (13) and Abeel (3) seriously injured.
Both families, already struggling financially, are now left homeless and scattered across neighbours’ houses. BACA has visited the
family to provide comfort, prayer, and immediate support, but the urgent need remains to rebuild their home. £6,000 is needed to restore safe shelter, provide medical help, and bring hope to this grieving family.
A Historic Step: Our First Permanent Safe House in Pakistan
Juliet Chowdhry Travels to Pakistan to Secure First Permanent Safe HouseEarlier this year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we successfully raised over £15,000 towards the purchase of our first ever permanent safe house in Pakistan. These safe houses are vital for offering immediate refuge and security to persecuted Christian families, many of whom face
threats to their lives after fleeing violent attacks or false blasphemy allegations. Unfortunately, despite having the funds in hand, we were unable to finalise the purchase at the time as none of our trustees were able to travel to Pakistan. Now, with a renewed sense of urgency, our Trustee Juliet Chowdhry will soon be travelling to secure the purchase of a safe house.
Help Rebuild Raj Bibi’s Home After Monsoon Devastation
Raj Bibi’s home in Kasur collapsed during heavy rains, putting her and her family at risk. She now lives in a temporary, unsafe shelter with her son and daughter-in-law. BACA has visited and pledged to help rebuild a safe home. Donations are urgently needed to provide shelter, groceries, and
security.
Monsoon Devastation Leaves Christian Families Struggling to Survive
Heavy monsoon rains have devastated the Christian village of Ali Ahmad Khan Mari in Sindh, Pakistan. Families have lost their mud homes and are now surviving in makeshift tents with little food. With fields flooded, daily-wage workers have no income and face hunger, disease, and despair.
Justice for Gulfam: Standing with His Mother Kishwar
In May 2025, 19-year-old Gulfam Masih was brutally murdered in Faisalabad after a minor accident with another motorbike. His widowed mother, Kishwar Bibi, has been left alone, struggling to survive as a low-paid cleaner. The British Asian Christian Association (BACA) has stepped in to provide groceries and emergency
support. Kishwar now needs ongoing help to cover living costs and to pursue justice for her son.
Supporting Vulnerable Children in Peru — A Personal MissionAlongside my work with BACA, I will soon be joining my university’s Challenges Abroad team to help deprived children in Peru. This opportunity follows the life-changing experience I had in Thailand last year, where I saw first-hand how charities can transform the lives of vulnerable children. I hope to use the skills and
understanding I gained to strengthen BACA’s mission of supporting disadvantaged communities around the world. To help fund this program, our Challenges Abroad team has launched a Chuffed Campaign, and any donation would mean the world to me. So far, I have raised £460 towards the £2,000 needed for this
volunteer experience, and I’m praying that more supporters will join me in making this journey possible. Your generosity will not only enable me to participate in this important work, but will also equip me to bring back fresh ideas, strategies, and inspiration to help BACA continue its fight for justice, safety, and freedom for those who need it most. “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” —
